Roel Geers (1952) was one of the founders of hgrv in 1991, a place where he had already had a long service record. He began his career in 1970 as a programmer in the ICT-branch, and in a few years he had climbed the promotional ladder to the position of Senior Information Manager. He was one of the first managers with a considerable knowledge of ICT in a largely administrative organization. Later, as an advisor, he counselled organizations in ICT-related projects, coupling these business projects with information planning. He built an ICT-advisory group in Twynstra Gudde in cooperation with some senior colleagues. He was Managing Director of the stock market listed software producer Multihouse NV and Managing Director of Twynstra Gudde before he came back to hgrv.
Roel has experience in the (re)installation of ICT-functions for leading clients, in the profit as well as in the non-profit sector. This usually includes the development of ICT-governance including sourcing strategy and the installation of necessary control functions. Roel has often headed the turnover of an ICT-operation from a corporation to a professional service. He has also headed the sale of listed corporations.
Independent of the scale of the project, the human aspect is what is most important for Roel. He always asks people if they can handle the transformations and responsibilities of their tasks, and whether the intervention will give them enough room and perspective to work in. Roel does all of this in cooperation with his clients.
His love for advisory and management positions brought Roel back to the hgrv, after years at the directorship level. It is his ambition to further expand the hgrv professional network. As a counselor and as a coach, he uses his knowledge and experience to serve his senior management level clients.
